Despite how “HUMBLE” he may be when it comes to achievements such as this one (“Y’all too infatuated with the f*cking numbers…”), you can’t really expect to not see your social media feeds flooded with post after post about how Kendrick Lamar’s third major label album, ‘DAMN.,’ has officially been certified double platinum by the RIAA. Heck, even Lamar himself, who usually isn’t too active on social media but has been partaking a bit more lately while currently on tour, took to Instagram to express a few words of gratification.
“These murals forever belong to my fans. You’ve always taken my words above and beyond. Around the world and back again. With trust. I am forever grateful. 3x”
‘DAMN.‘ is currently the only album to have achieved double platinum status in 2017. Well deserved, Kenny. Well deserved.
Catch Lamar on “The DAMN. Tour” with special guests Travis Scott and D.R.A.M.
It’s been a long time coming, but tonight Top Dawg Entertainment fans and the hip-hop community alike can rejoice in Kendrick Lamar‘s honor as the 27-year-old Compton native has scored not one, but two Grammy awards at the 57th annual ceremony. Beating out Childish Gambino, Drake, Eminem and Lecrae, Lamar nabbed an award for ‘Best Rap Performance’ for his Rahki-produced hit ‘i,’ and nabbed another for ‘Best Rap Song,’ also for ‘i.’
Well deserved, Lamar.
Congratulations in order to the whole TDE team.
TDE’s very own Sza will be touching down at Harlow’s on Monday, December 8 for what will serve as her very first show in the 916. The big-haired beauty will be accompanied by her live band. In addition, Sacramento’s very own spoken word and hip-hop artist Luke Tailor will be opening up and blessing concertgoers with sounds from his debut mixtape, TextBook Money. This event, coordinated by none other than ENT Legends, will be an all ages event and is sure to be a live one. Tickets are only going for $20, so you know you can’t beat that. Head on over to ENT Legends to purchase yours now before the show is sold out!
Last week Top Dawg Entertainment’s Sza released the follow-up to her S EP last week and among the songs that I have come to love since having made my purchase of Z is the Toro Y Moi-produced “HiiiJack.” The 23-year-old flower child expresses her love for her significant other, whom she has given no choice but to be with her as she “hiiijacks” his love.
Sometimes I keep you in my mind, sometimes I let you go up high. I’m using everything I find, do anything to keep you tied up, tied up…
Take a listen to the song below and if you haven’t yet taken a moment to cop Z, you can do so here.
ScHoolboy Q’s Oxymoron is now available in stores and online!
The wait is officially over! Top Dawg Entertainment’s ScHoolboy Q released his third studio album (first under Interscope) Oxymoron and I couldn’t be more excited and proud of Q and all of the TDE family.
Q has come a long way since Setbacks and Habits and Contradictions, but throughout his journey he has stayed true to himself and his craft, and if you’ve been following his career, then you know how truthful that statement is.You can’t help but to respect that, because a lot of artists let the fame get to their head and start conforming into an artist that their fans don’t even recognize. So, big-ups to Q and TDE for staying true.
If you haven’t already done so, head on over to your local Best Buy or Target to cop Oxymoron, or if you’re not into physical copies purchase it on iTunes HERE.
