Watch ETagg’s New Video for “MaryJane”

It’s been a little over a month since ETagg released his Beauty and the Beast-themed EP Kill the Beast. Today, the Sacramentan Jack-of-all-trades is back with the official visual for “MaryJane,” a track that happens to be a favorite of not only mine, but a lot of his fans as well. The visual was shot by his fellow Sacramento artist, Natho.

It’s been a long time coming, but tonight Top Dawg Entertainment fans and the hip-hop community alike can rejoice in Kendrick Lamar‘s honor as the 27-year-old Compton native has scored not one, but two Grammy awards at the 57th annual ceremony. Beating out Childish Gambino, Drake, Eminem and Lecrae, Lamar nabbed an award for ‘Best Rap Performance’ for his Rahki-produced hit ‘i,’ and nabbed another for ‘Best Rap Song,’ also for ‘i.’

Well deserved, Lamar.

Music: Rochelle Jordan – “So Good”

After becoming a finalist in Lenovo and Microsoft’s Team Up with Timbaland contest, Toronto songbird Rochelle Jordan links up with him for her new single titled “So Good.” Crooning over Timbo’s production, ROJO finds herself cutting ties with a lover, but in no way does the situation leave her salty, as she reminds him that being able to call her his lady was the best thing he ever had going for himself. Assuring him that she’s not going to waste her energy by lashing out at him, she instead expresses how good it feels to be done with him.

‘Cause now I know you ain’t the one. Now I know that this ain’t love. You ain’t no good, no good. It feels so good, so good.

Take a listen to “So Good” below and be on the look out for Jordan’s album, 1021, which is scheduled to drop on November 11.

Mixtape: Luke Tailor – “TextBook Money”

After having waited several seemingly endless months for the release of Luke Tailor‘s debut mixtape, TextBook Money, the Sacramento native is finally prepared to present us with what serves as a soundtrack for every college student who knows what it’s like having to share textbooks with a classmate during a lecture because you either couldn’t afford to purchase the book on your own or because your financial aid didn’t come through on time. Or, maybe you had to go hungry throughout the school day because you had to rely on the little chump change you did have to get you home on public transportation.

Whatever the case was or currently may be, please trust that this tape is for you. Even if you’ve never had an experience with college, but you can simply relate to the struggle of life and being broke in general, then this one is for you. If you’re a fan of real, raw, relatable lyricism, give TextBook Money a listen.

Music: Rochelle Jordan Ft. iamsu! – “Playa 4 Life”

After having been done wrong one too many times to recall, Toronto songstress Rochelle Jordan pulls her player card back out and vows to never wear her heart on her sleeve any longer.

Now I play the game with Hearts Galore, ’cause I don’t know how to trust anymore.

In an attempt to coax her into changing her mind, Bay Area native iamsu!, who also sampled Jordan’s “Losing,” for the $uzy 6 $peed “Losin’,” hops on to deliver a verse running nothing but game.

Girls tryna get with me and take my focus, but I refuse to give a dime to a broke b*tch. And every other girl I find got me hopeless; I’m tryna give a piece of mind when I wrote this. I’m living, doing me. And maybe you can see; I really hope that you could be everything you believe, ’cause I believe in you…”

“Playa 4 Life” serves as the first official single off of Jordan’s forthcoming LP, 1021, which is set to be released later this fall. Be on the lookout for it.

Music: Jhené Aiko – “Wading”

Now that Jhené Aiko‘s long-awaited album, Souled Out, has finally hit the shelves and internet, I can finally post about one of my favorite songs on the album. While giving Souled Out its “First Play” on iTunes a couple of days ago, “Wading” was the one that immediately had me like, “Yup, I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorites.” Because, like many of her songs, I can relate so much to the lyrics in the song; which I’m sure many of us can. Right?

Picture me rolling, out in the open. Baby, I know .. that you would notice. You have been hoping I wouldn’t go. Should I be wading, should I be wading for you?

Don’t keep me wading; I will turn blue.

Picture me rolling, out in the open with some other man. I know.. that you would notice and you were hoping feelings wouldn’t start to.. grow..

While I was wading, while I was wading for you.
I have been wading, I will be wading ’til I turn blue.

Isn’t that how it always goes? You call yourself ‘trying’ to get over someone (but you’re really ‘wading’ for them) by spending time with someone new, and then the person you’re so-called ‘trying’ to get over wants to pop back into the picture out of nowhere? People, I tell you.
