I came across Promise NYC awhile ago from watching random videos on YouTube. He has an audio video of him rapping over Nas’ “One Mic” and Jay-Z‘s “Renegade” instrumentals and I was in AWE. He has an official website, but it seems he only posts audio videos via YouTube. Other than the fact that he’s an amazing lyricist with quite a distinctive flow, I don’t know much else about him. I do think that he’s one of those people who doesn’t want to be signed to a major label, because if he did, he would do more than release songs via YouTube and a LOT more people would know about him. He has a couple of mixtapes on DatPiff, but his YouTube channel happens to be where I fell in love with the tracks that I am glad to call my favorites. Whether he chooses to stay underground or not, I’m going to continue to listen to his music.
